Blue Bear

Since 2005, Lawrence Argent's whimsical "I See What You Mean" bear has welcomed millions of visitors to downtown Denver with its presence. This beloved sculpture can be found inside Colorado Convention Center.

His art fuses traditional Western and non-resident art styles and has quickly become the new face of Denver. Many of his sculptures, such as a pacifier-shaped piece and 3D printed train, draw their inspiration from toys owned by his sons.

Argent has left his mark on Denver in just a short period, and people from all around the world have fallen for his artistic genius. Though his presence will be missed greatly, his legacy lives on through works such as the convention center and other works around Mile High City.

Events

The Colorado Convention Center (CCC) is one of the most cost-effective and user-friendly meeting facilities ever constructed. Conveniently situated in downtown Denver - which has long been recognized as an attractive city to visitors - within walking distance from over 13,000 hotel rooms, 16th Street Mall, Pepsi Center-home of Avalanche, Nuggets & Rockies; Denver Performing Arts Complex as well as other destinations nearby, its location makes it easily accessible.

Colorado Convention Center hosts events beyond its main exhibit halls. These include banquets and fundraising events held in Four Seasons Ballroom; graduation ceremonies for area schools like Art Institute of Colorado and Denver Public Schools; Metropolitan State University of Denver and Regis University graduations; as well as graduation parties.

At our facility, walls and public spaces feature an impressive collection of original art. There is even a quiet room located in Lobby A for attendees looking for somewhere peaceful to meditate, pray or simply relax.

Downtown Denver

The Colorado Convention Center is conveniently surrounded by paid public parking lots, hotels, Airbnb accommodations and other accommodations, taxis, Lyft and Uber vehicles as well as the A Line commuter train, which connects Denver International Airport (DEN) to Downtown within 25 minutes.

Established in 1990, this massive building features eighty thousand square feet of space including main ballroom, exhibit hall and five meeting rooms - not to mention artwork that graces walls throughout and even an amusing blue bear watching over activities!

History

The Colorado Convention Center was constructed quickly and opened its doors for business in 1990. Since then, it has become widely considered one of the most practical and user-friendly facilities ever constructed; located at the heart of Denver's Theatre District with easy walking distance access to 13,000 hotel rooms, 300 restaurants, nine theatres in Denver Performing Arts Complex as well as more.

It has hosted events ranging from the Great American Beer Festival and World Conference on Lung Cancer to World Youth Day with Pope John Paul II and Summit of the Eight where 20 different broadcast booths were set up on its roof in 1997.

CCC features six exhibit halls and 62 meeting rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology infrastructure that facilitates more efficient information flow for planners, exhibitors and attendees as well as simultaneous distance learning, virtual trade shows and online selling of products and services. Centerplate also serves as an exclusive catering partner at CCC with menu plans tailored specifically for any event.
